This perennial bean has unusual twisted flowers that resemble snails when viewed from certain angles. The flowers are fragrant. The old name is Phaseolus caracalla.

In frost free areas, it is an evergreen climber. In colder areas, it can be grown in a pot and brought indoors for the winter.
