Stenoglottis is a genus of orchids that come from the South African region. The cultivated species tend to come from the summer rainfall areas around Durban. They are deciduous, starting in the spring, growing through the summer, flowering in the autumn and dying down for the winter.

The leaves are produced in a rosette and the inflorescence is produced in the middle of the rosette. The inflorescences are sequential flowering, and will flower for a long time. Big plants will have multiple rosettes.

The thick roots have tiny hairs to cling to rocks. They also function as food and water storage in the winter.
