Phalaenopsis is a genus of warm growing orchids originating from South East Asia. They are monopodial (meaning, they grow indefinitely from a terminal bud) and do not grow pseudobulbs. The large leaves are thick and leathery, and grow along two ranks on either side of the stem. A flower spike is produced once a year, each spike contains several flowers that last for several months.
