Name Lampranthus Spp.
Common Names Ice Plant, Pig Face
Etymology
Lampranthus From Greek lampros meaning shining, and Greek anthos meaning flower, referring to flowers with bright almost flourescent colours.

This is a genus of cold hardy shrubby plants. In the spring, they are covered with brightly coloured daisy looking flowers that seem to shine in the Sun. Though similar looking to daisies, they are not members of the daisy family; their flowers are single flowers with many petals. Whereas, the daisy's flower is made up of multiple single petal flowers (florets) arranged in a circle.
