A small evergreen tree to 5m, the flower have white petals and yellow stamens, looking for afar like eggs fried "Sunny side up". It is related to camellias and the flowers resemble those of the camellia's. The dark green leaves provide a useful backdrop for a colourful perennial border. Gordonia axillaris is sometimes sold as Franklinia axillaris.
