Earina

Flowers
Family Orchidaceae
Name Earina mucronata

  See also:  Orchids, NZ Natives

This small epiphytic NZ native orchid is found in low bushland. The tiny white, cream or yellow flowers typically open during autumn.

The leaves look like grass. The plant can easily be mistaken for grass, if it was not for the brown stems and thick orchid roots. The pictures of Earina autumnalis were taken in 2005, along the Fairy Falls Track, Waitakere.
