Coelia bella grows as a terrestrial or lithophyte at intermediate elevations in Mexico and central America. The flowers are produced from the bases of mature pseudobulbs, growing on short inflorescences hidden below the foliage. They do not open completely and remain somewhat tubular in shape. Flowers have a spicy almond scent.
