 More pictures

Brunfelsia latifolia, or "Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow" is so named because its flowers open purplish blue and fades to white before dropping off. It is commonly mis-spelt as Brunsfelsia.

Warning: Like most members of the Solanaceae family, this plant is poisonous, in particular, the seeds.

Culture

This shrub flowers best if grown in full sun. When grown in shade, it can grow quite tall, to around 3 metres or so. It is normally evergreen, but in colder areas or during colder winters, it may lose most of its leaves.

Water and feed well in the summer. A heavy prune once every few years will restore the vigour and improve flowering. A mature plant will grow adventitious shoots from its roots. These can be dug out and grown on as new plants.
